Aluminum, Copper, and Steel
What’s the best option for my home or building?
When it comes to gutters, you have many choices to make. Color and style are the easy part, but choosing the material can be confusing. Below is a brief education on the materials available:
Aluminum Gutters
The most common product used today, this seamless aluminum gutter holds more water than traditional gutters of the past. It is also very affordable and durable, and is available in a wide variety of colors.
Copper Gutters
Seamless Copper rain gutters are designed and built to last a lifetime. Highly resistant to salt and airborne pollutants, copper is a popular choice for homes in beach communities. One of the aspects of this rain gutter is the copper quickly begins to oxidize and forms a much desired “patina” or “verdigris” look. This earthen toned marbling is classic to many types of architecture. This natural oxidation will occur quickly, after exposure to the elements.
Steel Gutters
Galvanized steel gutters are typically used in commercial buildings. They are extremely durable and can withstand ladders, fallen branches, and other elements.
